Home page thing

So I'm working on my home page for the class. Trying to design my own css and I think it's going alright. I am having a bit of difficulty though, but mostly with deciding what layout I want to do. Check out what i have here... home.html

Here are my recipe pages. I initially had a bit of issues validating both the html and xhtml pages dealing with content type. With xhtml I also had to add a xmlns attribute to the html tag, I'm not sure what that does...
